| For more
than five years, I have obsessed over the notion of meaningartistic
meaning in particularas an emergent phenomenon. For an equal number
of years, I have struggled to try and articulate my observations in a manner
that is accessible and worthwhile to a wide audience ranging from artists
to scientists and from academically trained philosophers to members of the
general public. My first several attempts at this material involved "brute force" approaches of long authoritative texts. Considering the lack of a robust interdisciplinary language between our popular culture, contemporary art theory, and complex systems theory, these attempts were premature and doomed to fail. In lieu of a singular authoritative work, I have produced a small swarm of essays. This is a work in progress, a constellation in motion. Rather than attempting to define, this work seeks to demonstrate. These essays are numbered chronologically in the order they were completed. But they can be read in any order. Read them serially if you like. Or you can wander through their hyperlinks. Or simply read them at random. Regardless of how you navigate them, I hope after reading several essays that you too will begin to connect the dots and gain some understanding of meaning as an emergent phenomenon. And should thoughts gel, please contact me with feedback. Real-world input is essential to work like this. |
