This artwork grants free slices of Dutch apple pie, baked by the artist’s mother, to the general public. Constraints dictate the serving of each pie, echoing customs of the artist’s childhood home. The pie is served on plates with flatware from his mother’s cupboard; only eight sets are in circulation at any one time. A singular pie sits upon the serving station at which a host dressed in an apron greets visitors by asking, “Would you like a piece of James Leonard’s mother’s Dutch apple pie?”
