Cardboard tabs jut out from the edges of this No Fishing Sign, emphasizing the found nature of the cardboard panels used for this series. Three prohibitions—“NO FISHING,” “NO SITTING,” “NOT STANDING”—are written in black ink atop a ground of washy umber, slate, and dense ochre. These prohibitions have been partially obscured by an attack of cream colored paint from the upper left that trails off into a scumble across all three instances of “NO,” wiggling hits of white, a confident stroke of teal, and a line of brick red oil pastel. A wide bar of chartreuse floats below the action.
