Corn, corn stalk, soil, paint, charcoal, corn starch, paper, gold leaf, door
Installation dimensions variable

An old wooden door, splashed with paint, leans against the wall. Text scrawled in charcoal reads, “I had power until someone told me I didn’t.” A dried corn stalk stands in a pile of soil, sprinkled with a spill of powdered corn starch. Behind this, a drawing on butcher paper pinned to the wall depicts another stalk ripe with an ear of corn. The corn kernels are gilded.

Littering the floor in front of this tableau are several bushels of sweet corn, which have been masticated, broken, and abused.
