Warlords

2004
Chrome plated dress stands, paper mache, torsos, leather jackets, acrylic paint
Installation dimensions variable

The hand-painted backs of these black leather jackets depict a logo and graphics for a fictitious motorcycle gang. At the center of each painting, a jawless skull is immersed in a ball of flames. The text around this skull could be read as the ascribed proscription, "Warlords: Crush All Dissent," or as the truism, "Warlords Crush All Dissent."

The jackets are dressed on chrome plated stands, and then distributed about the exhibition space.
