Door-to-door engagements
Artifacts and ephemera
A three month long campaign of playful anti-capitalist performances with collaborating artist Aaron Kuffner.
For this door-to-door performance, artists James Leonard and Aaron Kuffner adopted the identities of two struggling salesmen working for the fictitious company,The Sky & Culture Corporation.
The performance was a sales script. It emphasized the value of the non-commodifiable, as the two attempted to sell subscriptions of the sky overhead and membership plans to culture. The piece’s structure dictated that these offerings be made available as “non-financial transactions,” requiring an investment of time and engagement rather than money from each potential customer.
Legal permits to solicit door-to-door were acquired. After the three month performance, artifacts and the printed script were displayed to the public.
