In this video portrait, Lazzarus tells the entire 80+ year story of Captain America. Performed and shot in 2006, his monologue predates the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the release of Captain America: The First Avenger. Lazzarus’ chronology of this children’s comic book character illuminates Cap as a dynamic reflection of American self-perception spanning the 20th Century.
