The sky blue ground of this larger No Fishing Sign feathers near the edge, leaving a soft border of contrasting cardboard visible. Graphic elements, including machine printed text and a barcode label, peek through the sky blue. At the top of the composition, the “NO” in a black “NO FISHING” has been obscured by a wet-into-wet application of salmon paint. Black ink phrases “NO MAJESTY” and “NO NICKNAMES” lie at the lower third of the painting. A less noticeable scrawling of “KEEP OUT,” in orange oil pastel, floats above these two phrases.
